\"2016.04.09.a\"<\/a>\"2016.04.09.b\"<\/a>It has been two months since we embarked on our adventures in parenthood, and rather than developing a routine as we had hoped, we realized that we could only learn to adapt to the continuously evolving life of the baby. Although Westley’s been growing nicely, moving from 1st to 30th percentile in weight, he has been plagued by various derm issues from eczema and diaper rash to cradle cap and heat rash. We go back and forth between more frequent or fewer baths, and between lotioning to moisturize and avoiding skin products to minimize irritation. Fortunately, my parents flew in a few weeks ago to help with cooking, cleaning, and laundry, while also helping occasionally to take the baby off our hands. This gave us a chance to go out for a dinner date for Melody’s birthday at Ryujin<\/a> followed by dessert from Rick’s<\/a>. This weekend, we also got to stock up on macarons<\/a> and ice-cream, and entertained my aunt visiting from San Jose over dim sum<\/a>. At home, while Melody dealt with the ennui of being a stay-at-home mom, I tried to keep us occupied with more home improvement projects, like putting together an herb garden and installing Caseta<\/a> light switches around the house. I also got our hands on the new Amazon Echo Dot<\/a>, which not only lets us set timers and make a shopping list with verbal commands, but also gives us hands-free control of our lights and TV components, like we’re aboard the starship Enterprise. Melody’s new phone<\/a> also came with a free Gear VR<\/a> headset which gave me a chance to experience the hype of virtual reality. And after defeating the Institute in Fallout<\/A>, I began the new MGS5: The Phantom Pain<\/a>, which let me finally break in my PS4 and promises hours of sneaking fun, without a cardboard box. We’ll have to get used to the tip-toeing, as we pray for our baby to start sleeping longer.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
