Neither Melody nor I have been to the circus since we were little kids. For me, it was the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ringling.com\/\">Ringling Bros<\/a> then, complete with acrobats, clowns, and elephants across three rings in an enormous stadium. In contrast, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cirquedusoleil.com\/en\/home\/shows.aspx\">Cirque du Soleil&#8217;s<\/a> new show, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cirquedusoleil.com\/en\/shows\/kurios\/default.aspx\">Kurios<\/a>, was a fantastic production of sights and sounds with steampunk elements and a cool electro-swing soundtack. The memorable acts included a Japanese <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ted.com\/talks\/black_my_journey_to_yo_yo_mastery?language=en\">yo-yo champion<\/a>, a <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Balance_board\">rolla bolla<\/a> genius, and a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm3254703\/\">miniature woman<\/a> who is one meter tall. We had secured a ghetto parking spot for the show through <a href=\"http:\/\/www.parkwhiz.com\">ParkWhiz<\/a>, but ended the evening with a festive holiday dinner at the Michelin-starred <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boulevardrestaurant.com\/\">Boulevard<\/a>, which featured a delectable white truffle polenta and lobster bisque among the highlights. The meal stood out among my other holiday dining experiences this week, including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paesanos.biz\/\">Paesanos<\/a> for our lab lunch, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shokiramenhouse.com\">Shoki Ramen<\/a> for a VA candidate luncheon, and Mexican take-out at my wife&#8217;s division holiday party at her boss&#8217; house. Back home, we interviewed several interior designers including <a href=\"http:\/\/www.designbymisha.com\/\">Misha Lindsey<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kerriekelly.com\/\">Kerrie Kelly<\/a> (her minion at least), with the hope of putting our home improvement projects back on track.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We returned to the Bay area this past Sunday for a night out &#8211; at the circus!
